About

Who keeps this notebook, how an address gets in, and what we refuse to put in it.

What this guide is

An address book kept on the ground, in Egypt: 537 addresses across 14 regions, from Cairo to Aswan and from the Red Sea to Alexandria. Places to eat, drink, go out and visit — each with what is worth the detour, what is worth its price, and what we advise you to avoid.

How an address gets into the guide

An address is spotted by the editors or suggested by a reader. It is read, then checked on site before being written in the guide’s three languages and published. Nothing appears automatically: every entry was written by someone who went there.

What we do not do

No address is sponsored. No establishment pays to be listed here, or to be ranked higher.

We do not rate places ourselves. When a rating is shown, it comes from a named source — Google or Talabat — and the number of reviews is given. No rating is not a zero.

A missing opening time or phone number is not an oversight: we only publish what has been checked, and opening times stay indicative — check before you go.

The photos

Every photo carries its credit and licence, or the mention “Photo YaFandem” when it is ours. A photo sent by a reader is only published with their name and consent.

Your data

The guide has no accounts. Your favourites and your trip plan live in your browser, not on our servers. Audience measurement is anonymous and follows no one from one day to the next — the details are in the privacy policy.
