Sharm el-Sheikh

Family-friendly and well equipped, with the reef at the end of the beach and the old market after dark.

The most organised resort on the Red Sea: diving and snorkelling straight off the shore, and families find everything within reach. Ras Umm Sid and Nabq bay for the reef, Naama Bay for the terraces, the Old Market for spice and tea once the heat drops. It is also the handiest base for inland Sinai, whose addresses live under the Sinai region: the trips to Mount Sinai and St Catherine's leave at night and want confirming the day before.
