Sharm el-Sheikh · Off Sharm el-Sheikh

The Strait of Tiran

Four reefs in a row across the strait, and one of the country's finest boat days.

€€ Mid-range

Between Sinai and Tiran island, four reefs — Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas and Gordon — line up coral gardens and drop-offs in a rich current. It is Sharm's classic day out, diving or snorkelling, with a wrecked cargo ship visible from the surface.

The extra bit

Even snorkelling, the day is worth the price: Gordon's coral gardens start at two metres.

Know before you go

The strait is a protected area with an entry fee, and currents are real: follow the boat's instructions.
