Sheikh Zayed & 6th October

West of Cairo, two addresses: the club where Cairo dances, and the family funfair.

A newer residential belt, thirty to forty minutes from Zamalek by the desert road. The guide keeps just two addresses out here, and they are not for the same people: Cairo Jazz Club, terrace and indoor room, where you book on Thursdays and Fridays and show ID at the door; and Dream Park at 6th October, a sprawling open-air funfair families do in the late afternoon because there is next to no shade. Neither is somewhere you drop into on the way past: come by car or taxi and agree the return before you get out — a ride back from 6th October at night is hard to find.
