Billy Beez
A soft play the size of a warehouse — and one of the rare ones truly built for toddlers.
Billy Beez takes up the ground floor of Mall of Arabia, near gate 4, over a floor area that takes a while to walk round: multi-storey climbing frames, giant slides, a ball pool, trampolines, a role-play corner, a craft table. Everything is soft, padded, and watched by staff whose job is to frame risk rather than forbid it. It is built for ages one to twelve, with a separate area for the under-fours — and that area is what makes the difference, because in Greater Cairo most play areas put the two-year-old and the ten-year-old on the same slide.
The extra bit
Count the adult in: here the accompanying grown-up pays their own entry, which is not the case everywhere, and two parents for two children makes four tickets. One adult is enough to go in, the other waits in the mall. And come at opening on a weekday rather than mid-Saturday: in the first two hours a small child can get round every structure without being knocked over.
Know before you go
Entry is paid per child and per accompanying adult: the total climbs fast for a set of siblings. On Fridays, Saturdays and in the school holidays the frame is full and the staff can no longer see everything — that is when a three-year-old ends up on the big children's circuit. Two reservations to clear before driving out: the operator's own site did not answer when we checked, and a second address at Point 90 Mall in New Cairo is cited by sources we could not confirm one by one — do not go there without phoning first. Mall of Arabia is also an hour from central Cairo with no metro: come by car, and make it the outing of the day.
