Sinai · Masbat, Dahab

The bazaars of Masbat

Bedouin jewellery, textiles and dive gear, along the promenade.

Budget

Behind the seafront cafés, Dahab's shops sell a distinctive mix: Sinai Bedouin embroidery, beach trousers, semi-precious stones and snorkelling gear. The mood is relaxed and bargaining gentler than elsewhere.

The extra bit

Snorkelling gear costs less to buy here than to hire for three days: a decent mask and snorkel for the price of a dinner.

Know before you go

Not everything sold as "Bedouin" embroidery is: the South Sinai cooperatives are the most reliable.
