Marsa Alam is a diving base more than a town: shops come down to a few gear stores, mini-markets and bazaars along the coast road. You buy what you forgot, not what you came for.

Shop in Hurghada before heading down: in Marsa Alam choice is thin and prices climb.

Know before you go

Hotels are very isolated from one another: without a car, you depend on the hotel shop.
