Cushions and low benches under hanging fabrics

Sinai · Assalah, Dahab

The cafés of Assalah

Cushions set at the water's edge, where a whole day passes without you noticing.

BudgetOur favourite

Dahab's seafront is an unbroken line of low cafés, rugs, cushions and floor-level tables, facing the reef and the Saudi mountains opposite. You eat there in swimwear, wait for your dive boat, stay until night — it is Dahab's very rhythm.

The extra bit

Snorkelling starts straight from these terraces: the reef begins a few metres from the tables.

Know before you go

Service is slow, on principle as much as by habit: this is not a place to be in a hurry.
