Marsa Alam & the Red Sea · Marsa Alam and Hamata

The southern dive camps

Wooden huts by the reef, hours from the nearest hotel.

€€ Mid-range

South of Marsa Alam, a handful of dive camps occupy isolated bays: huts, solar panels, a compressor, and the reef thirty metres away. The opposite of a resort, and it has become the favourite format of divers who return every year.

The extra bit

Book full board: there is nothing for tens of kilometres around.

Know before you go

Limited electricity, patchy signal and long transfers from the airport: the price of the quiet.
