Cairo · From Qasr el-Nil bridge to Maadi
The renovated Nile corniche
Kilometres of riverbank given back to walkers, with benches, lighting and cafés.
€ Budget
The Nile banks have been turned into a continuous promenade: railings, paving, terraces opening onto the water. Cairo had almost no public space along its river; this is now where the city walks in the evening, for free.
The extra bit
The stretch from Garden City to the 15th of May bridge is the best: wide, lit, and facing the sunset.
Know before you go
Some fitted-out terraces charge for entry: the walk itself stays free.
