Kempinski Nile Hotel — the Rooftop Pool

A ten-metre pool on the roof, above the corniche: a day pass at EGP 1,940, gym and jacuzzi included.

€€€ High end

The hotel occupies a corniche building in Garden City, and its pool is right at the top, open to the sky, the Nile on one side and the neighbourhood's roofs on the other. The basin is small, and the hotel says so itself: ten metres long, five wide, one metre forty deep. You dip, you sunbathe, you do not swim lengths — it is a water terrace, not a lap pool. What is worth the climb is therefore not the swimming but the height: few places in Cairo let you spend a whole afternoon above the river without sleeping there. For that the hotel sells a day pass, which also covers the gym, the jacuzzi and a locker.

The extra bit

Telephone before you come, and get them to confirm on the line that a non-resident visitor may go up to the pool that day: the hotel's own site says both things, and it is the switchboard's answer that settles it.

Know before you go

ACCESS. The hotel sells a pool day-use package at EGP 1,940 per person, the same price on weekdays and at the weekend, covering the pool, the gym, the jacuzzi and a locker; it is booked by telephone. Be warned, and better to know it before crossing Cairo: the hotel's site contradicts itself. The rooftop pool page states that the pool is for in-house guests only until sunset, while the day-use page sells it to whoever asks. The likeliest reading is that this package is precisely the one way in for someone not sleeping there — but a reading is all it is, hence the phone call. MIXED BATHING. The pool is mixed: no official page consulted announces a women-only slot. HOURS. The pass is sold for the whole day and the pool page speaks of access until sunset; no precise hours are published. The fare is the one posted by the hotel in September 2026: hotel prices are revised, ask for it again when you book.
