Cairo · Nile west bank, Cairo
The Ahl Masr promenade
Kilometres of pedestrian riverbank, lit and planted, open until late.
€ Budget
The longest laid-out Nile promenade in Cairo: paving, lawns, cafés and walking paths on the west bank. It gave the public access to a river that had been privatised for decades, and in the evening it fills with families and runners.
The extra bit
The best stretch faces Zamalek island, at sunset.
Know before you go
Entry is charged on some stretches and at some hours: ask at the nearest access point.
