Ras Sudr

A shallow lagoon and wind every day: the kitesurf spot closest to Cairo.

€€ Mid-range

Two and a half hours from Cairo through the tunnel, the Gulf of Suez coast offers waist-deep flat water for hundreds of metres. It is where Egypt learns kitesurfing, with schools on the beach and full weekends.

The extra bit

Wind is most reliable from April to September: out of season the beach is quiet but the kiting is hit-and-miss.

Know before you go

Most beaches belong to resorts: day access is charged, with or without the school.
