Simonds
The counter where Zamalek has taken its cappuccino standing up since 1898.
€ Budget
A narrow room, a wooden counter, croissants out of the oven and a cappuccino in a thick cup. Zamalek's breakfast institution: you come in, you drink, you talk for two minutes, you leave — the opposite of cafés where you settle in.
The extra bit
Come before 10 am: the pastries come out in the morning and the room empties until the afternoon.
Know before you go
Few seats and no table service: it is a counter, not a lounge.
