Aifu Resort El Montazah — the day-use pool
A day in the pool on the Montazah Corniche, no room booked, for the price of a lunch.
Opposite the gate of the Montazah park, on the Corniche, a small three-star hotel sells a day at its pool to whoever turns up: this is the popular counterpart to the luxury hotel pools, and it costs ten times less. The day-use deal starts at 300 EGP a head and includes use of the pools, from ten in the morning to six in the evening. There is an outdoor pool and a children's pool according to the venue listing; the Arabic source says «حمامات السباحة», plural, without describing them. You come for the day, you leave in the evening, and the Montazah park is across the road if you want to stretch the outing. One thing to keep in mind: that price comes from a travel agency, not from the hotel itself.
The extra bit
Have the price and the hours confirmed the day before, by phone or in person: the deal is sold through agencies, and it lapses on exactly the days a family would want it — public holidays and official school holidays are excluded.
Know before you go
Access is open to the public by the day, with no overnight stay: you pay a day-use deal from 300 EGP a head, pools included. Under-3s go free, it is 200 EGP from 3 to 6 and 300 EGP from 6 to 12. The rate does not apply on public holidays or during official school holidays — the source states this plainly, and those are exactly the days you would want to come. On mixed or single-sex bathing, none of the sources consulted says anything: no women-only session is announced and no dress rule either. So check before travelling, all the more so if you are looking for a women-only pool. Finally, the price comes from a travel agency and not from the hotel: have the venue itself repeat it.
