Blue Beach Club

The only pool in town that belongs to no hotel — and whose price nobody publishes.

€€ Mid-range

Blue Beach Club sits inside the Hurghada marina compound, and that is what sets it apart from everything else on this list: no rooms, no reception, nothing to book for the night — so no question of resident or non-resident. You pay and you walk in. There is a pool, a jacuzzi and a sandy beach, restaurants, bars and music, by day and by night. It is the simplest option for anyone already in town who would rather not negotiate with a front desk. The price of that is opacity: the club publishes neither rates nor hours, its own website is down, and the figures circulating in reviews are both old and contradictory. The guide would rather give no number at all than a wrong one.

The extra bit

Ask the day's rate at the marina's main gate, or through the club's Facebook page before you come. Do not go by the figures in the reviews: they are old and they do not agree with one another.

Know before you go

ACCESS — paid by the day and open to all: this is a beach club, not a hotel, and entry really is a ticket — day trips sold around town itemise a Blue Beach Club entry with four hours on site. The rate is published nowhere, the club's official site no longer answers, and the guide therefore gives no figure: ask at the main gate or through the club's Facebook page. MIXED BATHING — the club is mixed. Pool, jacuzzi and sandy beach, with a DJ, a bar, a restaurant and entertainment by day and by night: no women-only session is announced, and the format does not lend itself to one. HOURS — also unpublished; the club presents itself as running day and night, and the excursion consulted allows four hours on site. To be confirmed with the club before you come.
