Tables and chairs on a deck, right at the water

Alexandria · Corniche, Alexandria

The Corniche cafés

Tea facing the Mediterranean, on chairs set between pavement and sea wall.

Budget

For kilometres, Alexandria's cafés have set their tables facing the water. The ritual is simple: tea, a shisha, the sea, and watching the sun go down behind Qaitbay fort. The Alexandrian activity par excellence, and it costs next to nothing.

The extra bit

The stretch between Chatby and Stanley is best in late afternoon: the light comes head-on.

Know before you go

Winter wind makes the terraces uncomfortable: from December to February, prefer a glassed room.
