Aswan · Corniche, Aswan

The cafés of the Aswan corniche

Tea beside the calmest stretch of the Nile in Egypt, with feluccas gliding past.

Budget

Aswan is where the river is at its finest, and its corniche cafés make the most of it: a few tables, a karkadeh tea, and white sails crossing your view every couple of minutes. It is an activity in itself, especially late in the day.

The extra bit

Take iced karkadeh rather than tea: it is Aswan's drink, and it is better here than anywhere.

Know before you go

Felucca touts work the corniche: a firm, friendly no is enough and they move on.
