The Cavafy Museum
The Alexandrian Greek poet's flat, as he wrote "Ithaka" in it.
€ BudgetOff the beaten track
Two rooms on the first floor of a central building: the desk, the bed, a few manuscripts and the editions published in his lifetime. Cavafy said he chose this street because it had "the church, the hospital and the brothel" — the flat has not moved.
The extra bit
Read "The City" before going up: the poem is about the very street you are standing in.
Know before you go
Restricted hours and closure on the Greek weekend: check before coming.
