The pool people take for public and which is not: it is reserved for syndicate engineers and their families.
The Alexandria engineers' syndicate runs a club, and the club has a pool. Its official page is clear about who it is for: the service addresses «engineers and members of their families», meaning engineers registered with the syndicate. Free swimming is advertised every day from noon to four in the afternoon, and swimming academies, for children as well as adults, are offered — to members and their families too. No price is published and nothing announces a day ticket for the public. We list the address for that very reason: it is the textbook case of the pool you hear about, take for an open venue, and travel to for nothing. That the information comes from the syndicate itself makes it solid, which is worth more than a rumour of an opening.
The extra bit
If you are not a syndicate engineer, do not make the trip: the club sells no day entry. If you are, or if someone in your family is, everything goes through the syndicate — the membership card before anything else.
Know before you go
Access is restricted: the pool is for engineers registered with the syndicate and members of their families. There is no day ticket for the public and no price is published. Free swimming is advertised every day from 12 pm to 4 pm; the swimming academies, for children and adults, are likewise reserved for members and their families. On mixed or single-sex bathing the official page says nothing — no women-only session, no men-only session, only that shared slot: check with the syndicate before counting on it. It is equally unknown whether the pool is indoor or outdoor, and whether the hours hold all year. Finally, the syndicate does not publish the club's address: ask for it along with the rest.
