Flat water and steady wind: the two reasons to come here.
  • The lagoon stays shallow far out — you learn standing up.
  • The station huts: rental, lessons, and the wind read each morning.

Hurghada · El Gouna

Kitesurfing in El Gouna

A flat lagoon and thermal wind every afternoon, April to October.

€€€ High end

El Gouna is one of the Red Sea's most reliable spots: shallow water for hundreds of metres, steady wind, many schools and rescue boats. It is where most Egyptians learn, and instructor quality is good.

The extra bit

Book lessons in the morning: the wind rises in the afternoon and becomes too strong for beginners.

Know before you go

Gear is hired on site; insurance and the rescue boat are sometimes charged extra.
