The Magic Lake

A lake among the dunes that changes colour with the day's light.

In the Wadi el-Rayan reserve, an isolated sheet of water among the dunes, ringed by sand and hot springs. Its name comes from the shifts of colour through the day; people come for sunset and for sandboarding down the dunes.

Know before you go

A reserve entry fee applies, and a 4×4 is advisable to approach the lake: cars get stuck in the sand.
