The Anfoushi fish market

The fishing port's auction at dawn, before the city wakes.

€ Budget

The boats come in at first light and unload in front of the market: sea bass, bream, prawns, octopus, sardines by the crate. You can buy your fish and have it cooked in a nearby restaurant for a few pounds.

The extra bit

Come between 6 and 8 am: that is when everything happens, and the atmosphere is worth as much as the stalls.

Know before you go

The floor is wet and slippery: closed shoes, and watch for crates moving fast.
