The Delta and the north coast · Burullus

The fish market of Lake Burullus

Lagoon fish sold straight from the boats, in the northern Delta.

Budget

Lake Burullus is one of the Delta's great lagoons, and its market sells what came out that morning: mullet, tilapia, lagoon prawns. A producers' market, with no concession to tourism.

The extra bit

Combine with a boat trip on the lagoon: fishermen readily take people out for a few hours.

Know before you go

The area has little visitor infrastructure: plan a driver for the day from Kafr el-Sheikh.
