The Delta gave ancient Egypt entire capitals — Sais, Buto, Tanis — and had almost nothing to show for it. This regional museum gathers its excavation finds: statues, coffins, coins, and a room on today's farming life.

It is the best way into the Delta before visiting the sites themselves, which have little infrastructure.

Few foreign visitors: not all labels are translated, and a French-speaking guide has to be arranged from Cairo.
