Unpretentious Egyptian and Nubian cooking, served facing the river at local prices. Aswan's practical address: open late, central, and one of the few terraces where you can spend the evening with no minimum spend.

The extra bit

Take the Nubian vegetable tagine: it is the local specialty, and better here than in the hotels.

Know before you go

Aswan is hotter than Luxor: dine after 8 pm, when the corniche becomes breathable.
