Sand City

Monumental sand sculptures, signed by carvers from all over the world.

Budget

An open-air park of sand sculptures, some several metres high: Egyptian mythology, cartoon characters, whole scenes. A short and surprisingly photogenic visit, ten minutes on foot from Senzo Mall — enough to round off a late-afternoon shopping trip.

The extra bit

Go late in the day: low light brings out the relief that midday sun flattens completely.

Know before you go

The sand is fragile and nothing is behind glass: look without touching, and keep a close eye on children.

The harbour promenade: yachts on one side, terraces on the other, and the whole town out after dark.
