Sofianopoulo Coffee Store

A Greek roaster in Alexandria where you drink your coffee standing, in front of the sacks of beans.

Budget

A roasting shop inherited from cosmopolitan Alexandria: coffee ground in front of you, served in a small cup at the counter, and sold by weight to take away. The smell alone justifies the detour, and prices are nothing like the Corniche cafés'.

The extra bit

Buy 250 g of finely ground Turkish blend: it travels best and can be made again at home.

Know before you go

Cash. There is no seating room: you drink at the counter or on the pavement, like everyone else.
