The Suez corniche
The canal's southern entrance, where ships queue for their turn.
€ BudgetOff the beaten track
From the Port Tewfik corniche you see the convoy queue: container ships, gas carriers, freighters, motionless in the gulf. The town was destroyed then rebuilt after 1973, and what you come to watch is world trade, a few hundred metres away.
The extra bit
Ask about the northbound convoy time: the queue moves all at once, and that is the moment to see.
Know before you go
A port and military zone: photography is restricted, follow what locals do.
