The temple of Kom Ombo
A double temple, shared between the crocodile Sobek and the falcon Haroeris.
€€ Mid-range
Set on a bend of the Nile, the temple is strictly symmetrical: two entrances, two sanctuaries, two gods. The neighbouring museum shows the mummified crocodiles found on site, and the carved calendar details the year's festivals.
The extra bit
Come at sunset: the temple is lit and the Nile runs right behind the columns.
Know before you go
A classic cruise stop: between 9 and 11 am the site is saturated.
