The Old Cataract terrace
Egypt's most famous tea, facing the white sails and the rocks of the first cataract.
€€€ High end
The red terrace of Agatha Christie's hotel overlooks the Nile exactly where it breaks into rocks and islands. Afternoon tea there is an institution, and the view genuinely earns its price — one of the country's finest panoramas, with no monument in it.
The extra bit
Book and come around 4 pm: the light is still high on the west bank dunes, and the terrace is not full.
Know before you go
