Alexandria Opera — Sayed Darwish Theatre

A 1921 Italian-style auditorium, the city's finest stage.

The former Mohamed Ali theatre, reopened under the name of composer Sayed Darwish, programmes symphony concerts, operas and dance. The restored red-and-gold interior alone is worth the ticket.

The extra bit

The Alexandria symphony orchestra's concerts are cheap and rarely sold out: the best way in.

Smart dress expected, and tickets are bought at the box office a few days ahead.
