Africa's oldest tram, overhauled after a hundred and fifty years of service.

Alexandria has run trams since 1863. The network has been renovated and the cars replaced: same rails, same narrow streets, new stock. It is the best way to cross the city from west to east, and the only one that shows you the districts rather than the corniche.

The extra bit

Take the blue line towards Victoria in late afternoon: it crosses the residential districts and old Ramleh.
