A street restaurant and its roof terrace, in the middle of old Luxor: Egyptian cooking, grills, and a direct view of the temple's lit columns after dark. The best table in the centre for eating outside without leaving the old quarter.

Go up to the roof and book for nightfall: the temple view only makes sense once the floodlights are on.

Know before you go

The stairs are steep and there is no lift: worth flagging if someone in the group walks with difficulty.
