Luxor souk

The souk's covered street: spices, galabiyas, statuettes and a great deal of bargaining.

€ Budget

Luxor's souk runs behind the corniche for several hundred metres, partly covered. The first half is very touristy; go deeper and you find the stalls where locals buy spices, fabric and vegetables.

The extra bit

Buy spices by weight deep inside the souk: three times cheaper than at the entrance.

Know before you go

Very cheap "saffron" is safflower: real saffron never costs a few pounds.
