Andrea Mariouteya
Charcoal-grilled chicken in a garden, on the edge of Cairo, since the 1960s.
€€ Mid-range
A large country house turned restaurant: tables under the trees, a bread oven at the entrance, chickens turning over the coals. It is Cairo families' Friday lunch, and one of the few addresses where you eat outside in greenery.
The extra bit
Take a whole chicken for two with bread from the oven and salads: the standard order, and it is enough.
Know before you go
It sits on the pyramids road: it combines well with a morning in Giza.
