The Nile at dusk, the Cairo Tower and a lit-up boat

Giza · Nile corniche, Giza

The cafés of the Giza corniche

Plastic chairs facing the river, a tea, and the best view-for-money in Greater Cairo.

Budget

On the west bank, popular cafés line their tables facing the water: families, fishermen, groups of friends. You drink tea for almost nothing with the same view as the hotel terraces opposite, and often stay past midnight.

The extra bit

Pick a café whose tables touch the parapet: two rows back, the traffic takes over.

Know before you go

Cash, and ask the shisha price first: it varies a lot from café to café on the same corniche.

Directions
