Giza · Dokki

The Mahmoud Khalil Museum

Monet, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Rodin, in a Cairo villa almost nobody visits.

BudgetOff the beaten track

The collection of an Egyptian politician besotted with French art, left to the state: impressionists, sculptures, tapestries, in his own house. One of the finest such sets outside Europe, and it fits in a Dokki villa.

The extra bit

An hour and a half is enough, and the house counts as much as the canvases: garden, woodwork, staircase.

Know before you go

No photography inside, bags to be left at the entrance.
